Why Eastern Thinking Called to Me
The dream lands refused to fade. Asian settings surfaced in my out-of-body and past-life experiences like memories from a life I’d lived before. Meanwhile, the relentless grind of Western consumerism wore me thin—success felt hollow, living standards seemed plastic, fitting in felt like betrayal. I was exhausted by a culture that measured worth through accumulation and forced me into pre-cut molds. Those dreams weren’t escaping reality; they were pointing toward a missing chapter.
Finding My Way Home: A Journey Across Dreams and Realities
Time and again, I found myself transported to Asian settings through out-of-body or past-life experiences. These weren’t just dreams—they felt like glimpses into another existence calling to me.
As a young adult, I felt drained by the relentless pressure of contemporary life. Surrounded by consumerism and expected to conform to artificial living standards, I longed to escape back to those mystical dreamscapes and discover a missing piece of myself.
Then came my moment of courage.
I left everything I knew behind and journeyed to meet a community of Taiwanese people. There, I forged a deep friendship with a woman who ran a Chinese coffee shop bustling with university students working part-time. Drawing on my talent for creative writing and critical thinking, I began helping Taiwanese students craft their college essays.
These connections became invaluable to me. Though I couldn’t walk the same path to success as my new friends—my own obstacles felt too real, too solid—I never gave up on seeking my own way forward.
I learned Mandarin from my friend’s brother. From a woman in a shop around the corner, I absorbed Japanese. Then, during one of those profound out-of-body experiences, I saw children in Japan—a fleeting vision of the future.
Years later, I traveled to Japan to live abroad. Those very children appeared before me, exactly as my vision had shown me they would.
My Taiwanese and Japanese friends have never stopped supporting me whenever I needed guidance about work or life’s bigger questions. I spent years immersed in Buddhist communities and temples abroad, wrestling with my own struggles and emerging with hard-won wisdom.
Now, I feel called to share these insights with you. Through this article—and through an upcoming book that I’m keeping under wraps for now—I hope to help you discover harmony, prosperity, and wealth aligned with your truest self. May you find your tribe, your people, and a community with whom you can share the rest of your life authentically and joyfully.
