A latchkey kid's mystical life journey...
Tom Vrilock. Kyoto, Japan.

In the weave of life’s vast loom, where shadows cast long threads of strife and glimmers of wonder sway, my story unfolds—a tapestry of battles waged against unseen foes and truths that pierce the mundane’s veil. From the stormy echoes of youth to a distant realm where the samurai’s spirit cuts through mist and cherry blossoms, I have walked a path of ceaseless trials and sacred insights. Each hurdle, each spectral riddle, asks: What binds the shadow to the light? They urge me to unravel truth from deception, to forge strength in turmoil, and to claim my place in a world that dims the soul’s true flame. This is my saga: a quest of resilience, of mystic tides, and of a heart tuned to destiny’s silent pulse.

                        Shadows test my will,
                        Samurai’s blade seeks the truth—
                        Mist parts, light ascends.

I believe that as far back as I can remember, my life has been a series of roadblocks, challenges, and setbacks—testing my patience and persistence mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. What happened to me as a young boy and throughout my young adult years has been off the charts, both coincidentally and paranormally. While I cannot be certain of the exact cause of this cascade of events throughout my life, I am confident that my ability to see through the veil of lies and recognize oppressive systems must be partly the reason for these episodes. The hardest part is that we don’t come into this world with a user manual or guidebook to explain these mystical encounters. In many cases, the means to challenge the evil forces in the world elude us. Sometimes, the greatest enemy is a frenemy sitting right beside us. When we are young, this frenemy could be a schoolmate, a playmate, or even a relative. Sometimes, people in our own families do not wish for us to succeed because our success challenges their sense of self-worth.
